Shakti Gauchan Retires from Professional Cricket

Shakti Gauchan's Farewell (Via WicketNepal)

Shakti Prasad Gauchan –  All-rounder ( right-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox spinner) has announced retirement from professional cricket today. He is also known as Shakti – The Power. He made his debut for Nepal against Oman in July 2002. In July 2018, he announced that he would retire from international cricket after the conclusion of the Netherlands tour.
Many of his fans might be surprised to know that he started his career as a batsman but adjusted himself to the team requirement as a bowler in later stages.
During his career, he contributed a lot to the Nepalese Cricket. Nepal would not be in this proud stage of having ODI status without his contribution.

Shakti Gauchan became the second Nepalese cricketer to score an international century, when he slammed an unbeaten 106 off 103 balls against Italy during the ICC World Cup Qualifying Series in February 2005.
He was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Nepal’s first ever One Day International (ODI) match, against the Netherlands, in August 2018.

He played his last match in Everest Premier League (2018) for Pokhara Rhinos. Unfortunately, Pokhara Rhinos couldn’t win any of the game in that tournament.
